Memory Ann Forwalt. Not A Self-Portrait, 2016.
Watercolor & Acrylic on Canvas.
50 cm x 50 cm (20 in x 20 in).

A fun pop art piece defying any expectations. Not A Self-Portrait is a piece plastered with music on a shake and a rattle of 1, 2 & 3, and a pieced column about a band named Garbage. She names her songs discreetly knowing there is a few written about her, yet her identity has yet to be disclosed. Although she is autistic and fairy tales are written in her head, she knows there is a reality of the words that has just been said. Her chaos makes her beautiful. Her story priceless with an audience of those whom she needed to understand. Astoundingly describing her made it to the top of the charts with the magical words that were written in a futile effort to somehow protect and guide her with that in which she did not know yet.

With the sound of music combined and personalities on the air of those voices in which all ears have come to adore, she begins to reach for something far more. Thus, this piece is blatantly named, Not A Self-Portrait.

Memory Ann Forwalt. Her Soul Ascends & Back Again, 2016.
Watercolor & Acrylic on Canvas.
91.44 cm x 30 cm (36 in x 12 in).

With a mournful spirit the lovely lady looking from above weeps as she watches the soul below, ascend up & back again...repeatedly.

With great sorrow, her heart breaks as the world takes no notice to the one below and her immediate needs. Death, and life again...flatlined, but they are only trying to see in. Without belief, those that surround her wonder if when her soul lifts can anything beyond life be seen. Forbidden, that's what they should deem her imagery. Thus, this piece is touching to me and I have named her, Her Soul Ascends & Back Again.
